Adopt a Dog

Out of thousands of dogs only a few will be plucked to safety by rescue groups like SRS.  Once we have found a foster home for a dog, or someone to adopt a dog, the wheels are set in motion to raise funds to transport it to the UK.

They are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, checked by a vet and given a passport to travel. Fosterers are given full support from SRS until a permanent home is found. We are always looking for new fosterers to join the dog rescue work and get these dogs out of the shelters, off the streets and ready to be adopted.  If you want to know how to help us rescue a dog then contact us!

The dogs on this page are all waiting for their perfect forever homes. Our dogs are supported by SRS which may include vets fees, boarding, food and preparation for travel. If you would like to offer one of our dogs a home then please fill out the pre-adoption application form. All potential owners have a home check and an adoption fee will apply. For more details see our FAQ page.

How to Adopt

We are so grateful that you are considering helping one of our dogs.

If you have seen a dog you like we can give you more information about him/her. If you are looking for a dog and need advice we are very happy to provide suggestions and try and match you to the right dog.

We are here to support you throughout the process and once your dog has settled in to your home. If you have any problems or questions, no matter how minor they may seem, just contact our team who will be happy to help!

Why we are so careful who adopts?

When approving adoptive homes, Saving and Rehoming Strays has certain requirements in place to help ensure that the pets we place find themselves in happy, well-adjusted homes, who value them as a family member and understand humane and proper care.

While you may be the most loving family, you may NOT be the right home for the pet in question. Please remember that our job is to find the right home for the pet. Please read our adoption policy here before completing an application form.

What is the rehoming process?

Step 1 – Decide what type of dog you would like, large, small etc. then check our list of dogs looking for a home. You can see our animal profiles and learn more about their needs and whether they are a good match for you.

Step 2 – Register your interest by completing our application form here. If you are interested in more than one animal on our website then please pop this in your comments.

Step 3 - Due to the high volume of applications, our rehoming team can only respond to applicants who have been successful. If you do not hear from us within seven working days your application has unfortunately not been chosen.

Step 4 - If you are successful, we will discuss your application further and arrange a home check.

(This may be completed virtually and you will be asked to provide a video tour of your home and garden in advance of the homecheck).

Step 5 - Once your home check has been completed successfully, we might organise a meet and greet appointment with the animal. Due to the limited appointment slots available we will only do so for animals where we have determined there is a need to do so.

Step 6 - If you wish to go ahead, we will then arrange an appointment for you to collect the animal you are rehoming or, where applicable, you may be able to take the animal home that day after signing our adoption contract and paying the adoption donation. At your final appointment you will also receive a pack containing all relevant information you may need such as vaccination details and any other health information.

Where your dog is travelling directly to your home you will be given updates on arrival times and advice for when your dog arrives.

Please note that SRS are under no obligation to provide feedback on adoption applications or homechecks and reserve the right to stop adoption proceedings at any point in the process.
